Will pizza vending machines hit streets of NY?

Will pizza vending machines hit streets of NY?
Will pizza vending machines hit streets of NY?, Dominoes promise their pizzas will be ready and at your door in 30 minutes or less. But one New York entrepreneur found a way to deliver pizza to your hand in just 90 seconds - by creating a pizza vending machine.

The automated pizzeria delivers freshly baked hot pizzas at the touch of a few buttons, and not only that, but you can watch it be cooked right in front of your very eyes - just like a real pizzeria but without the chef. pizza vending machine, pizza vending machine 8-inch round pie,

Customers have the option of white, cheese or pepperoni pizza. Once they make their selection, they can watch as the machine presses a ball of fresh dough into an eight-inch pie. Will pizza vending machines hit streets of NY?, pizza vending machine white cheese pepperoni,

The tomato sauce is then drizzled on to the pressed circle of dough and the grated cheese is distributed and spread by a plastic funnel as the pie rotates to ensure it is spread evenly.

The same funnel distributes the toppings.

The pizza takes anything from 90 seconds to three-and-a-half minutes to bake, depending how many are ordered, during which time customers can either watch the pizza-making process or can look at the 32-inch flat screen TV that blares entertainment and ads. pizza vending machine 90 seconds,

Once the pizza is ready, it is delivered in its own individual box with a disposable pizza cutter, napkin and two spices.

The vending machine itself holds enough fresh ingredients for 150 pizzas which are all kept in a sealed and refrigerated compartment.

Nothing is precooked, and no microwaves or water hook ups are used.

The New York Post reported that the man behind the ingenious creation is an immigrant from the Middle East who arrived in the U.S. virtually penniless.

Puzant Khatchadourian then became a successful high-end jeweller who cast pieces for retailers like Movado, Harry Winston and Tiffanys.

The company president is John Kavazanjian, retired CEO of a multinational.

The machines are still in the process of building five machines for market testing.

Mr Khatchadourian has been working on the machines since the early nineties after hearing his son complain about how long it took the local pizza joint to deliver.

He has already spent millions of dollars building prototypes.

The pizza vending machine is only the latest in a long list of inventive machines that are popping up all over the world.

Cops say parents locked boy in coffin
Cops say parents locked boy in coffin, Police were searching on Tuesday for a couple accused of punishing their 7-year-old son by forcing him to wear a diaper and locking him in a coffin in the basement of their Pennsylvania home.

Neighbors called police after they heard the boy crying from inside the house in Scranton on September 26, said police Detective Captain Al Leoncini.

Police found the boy sitting in a doorway of the basement, upset and wearing a diaper, he said. The boy told police he was crying because he was hungry.

After coming home from school, the boy said his stepfather had locked him in a coffin held shut by a chair in the basement. He said he was eventually able to escape by pushing it open. Cops say parents locked boy in coffin, boy locked in coffin, boy locked in coffin punishment,

America's best casual restaurant chains

Americas favorite casual restaurant chains
America's best casual restaurant chains, Choosing your favorite casual-dining chain restaurant is serious business. The options are plentiful and there's much to consider from food quality to value for money. Endless choice, super-sized portions, and friendly faces can be very persuasive. It's no big surprise then that The Cheesecake Factory is the nation's favorite casual-dining restaurant according to an annual survey conducted by Market Force Information, a customer experience management firm.

This is the second consecutive year that the popular chain, known for its extensive menu and cheesecake options, has landed in the survey's top spot. With a selection of more than 200 items, including 50 dessert options, and plates so generous almost everyone leaves with a doggie bag, The Cheesecake Factory ranked a clear first earning 7.3% of the vote share, more than double the 3.2% scored by runner-up Texas Roadhouse. Olive Garden came in at No. 3 spot with 2.8% of votes. Americas favorite casual restaurant chains,

More than 4,500 consumers from the firm's 300,000 strong stable of independent mystery shoppers voted for their favorite chain from a list of 51 casual-dining restaurants in the August survey. Votes were weighted against the number of restaurant locations per chain to account for the fact that certain brands are less prevalent than others. "A respondent's ability to select a certain restaurant depends on whether there's even an outlet in their area" said Market Force's Senior Vice President of Customer Knowledge, Cheryl Flink. "If they haven't been, they can't make a decision on how much they like that chain."

To understand why a certain brand fared better than another, respondents rated them by the following attributes: quality of food, taste of food, speed of service, friendly service, cleanliness, overall value, atmosphere, child-friendliness, healthy choices, and green/sustainable practices.

When patronizing casual-dining restaurants, which fall in between fine-dining eateries and fast food joints, the taste and quality food is most important to the diner, according to restaurant and food industry consultant, Bob Sandelman. Notably, the top 3 favorites chains all scored very well in these categories. "Eating out is a considered purchase, often a special occasion, so people need to make sure the food is going to be worth it" said Sandelman. America's best casual restaurant chains, cheesecake factory,

Americas favorite casual restaurant chains: But good food isn't always enough; the menu needs to be innovative too. "A lot of consumers tire of restaurants when those chains fail to keep up with changing consumer preferences" explained Sharon Zackfia, a restaurant analyst at William Blair & Company. By revising its menu and adding new dishes and concepts every six months, the Cheesecake Factory is a prime example of a chain that innovates to keep consumers coming back. "There are no inherent limitations in it's concept" said Zackfia, "they have to have cheesecake, but otherwise they can go anywhere with their food."

Service is second most important in the mind of the diner, but it's also inextricably linked to the food. According to Flink, "people are tolerant about speed of service if the food is very, very good. If they've waited 10 minutes more than they think they should have, and the food is bad, you've got a double whammy: bad food, bad service — no one's happy."

Then there's atmosphere. Casual-dining eateries are popular choices for celebrations, so a lively environment makes all the difference between a mediocre meal and a great one. Decked out with jukeboxes, Wild West accoutrements and even line dancers, it's no surprise that Texas Roadhouse was an extremely high-scorer in this category.

Though with an entirely different feel, Italian-American chain Olive Garden also wooed diners with its great atmosphere. According to Zackfia, the chain's unique strength lies in creating a widely appealing experience. "It's accessible to everybody" she said, "white collar, blue collar, senior citizens, teenagers on date."

Value however, didn't appear to have much impact on how respondents voted. None of the top 3 favorite eateries featured among the top scorers for overall value.

Value is often about lots and lots of food for few dollars" said Flink. Logically, Golden Corral (which holds the No. 11 spot), a reasonably priced, all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant was the highest scorer in this category. But quantity says nothing about quality. Respondents were decidedly less enthusiastic about the taste and quality of Golden Corral's seemingly boundless offerings.

Loved Ones Ashes Ammunition

Loved Ones Ashes Ammunition
Loved Ones Ashes Ammunition, An Alabama company has come up with a way for avid hunters to go out with a bang when they die. The cremated ashes of loved ones can now be loaded into shotgun shells and rifle and pistol cartridges.Holy Smoke LLC, created by state conservation officers Thad Holmes and Clem Parnell, launched in July and recently shipped its first two orders, according to The Montgomery Advertiser.

“This isn’t a joke. It’s a job that we take very seriously,” Parnell told the paper. “This is a reverent business. We take the utmost care in what we do and show the greatest respect for the remains.”

One pound of ash can be loaded into 250 shotgun shells for $850. The company also does pistol and rifle rounds. The process takes about 48 hours after the company receives the ashes. Any remaining ashes are shipped back to the customer with the ammo.

“You can take your loved one on one last hunting trip or one last trip to the range,” Holmes said. “Some people have been concerned that a small amount of ash will remain in the animal that is shot with the ammunition. But it’s just carbon, and a small amount at that. You don’t have anything to worry about.”

The two men came up with the idea on a hunting trip several years ago when they were discussing how they would want to be buried.

“I would rest in peace knowing the last thing I did was to go screaming at that turkey at 900 feet per second,” Parnell said.

Muslim inmates sue over meals

Muslim inmates sue over meals
Muslim inmates sue over meals, A Muslim death row inmate says the Ohio prison system is denying him meals prepared according to Islamic law while at the same time providing kosher meals to Jewish prisoners, according to a federal lawsuit that alleges a civil rights violation. The state said Monday that it has already removed pork from its menus in response to the lawsuit brought by condemned inmate Abdul Awkal, who argues the prison system's failure to provide halal meals is a restraint on his religious freedoms.

Awkal, joined by a second inmate not on death row, says the vegetarian and non-pork options offered by the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction aren't good enough. The inmates say food must be prepared in specific fashion, such as ensuring that an animal is butchered by slitting its throat and draining its blood, to conform to Islamic beliefs.

"The issue of eating Halal meals is especially important to me because I face a death sentence," Awkal said in a filing in federal court earlier this year. "It is important to me that I follow the requirements of my faith as I approach death."

The state's recent decision to drop pork from all meals accommodates religious preferences without jeopardizing security, said Carlo LoParo, spokesman for the state corrections department. It "eliminates any doubt that Muslims or any inmate who has a specific prohibition against pork products receives pork inadvertently or otherwise," he said. Muslim inmates sue over meals, muslim inmates sue meal preparation

"It's a concession that we can make that doesn't compromise other aspects of our operation," he said.

But Monday's announcement doesn't solve that meat isn't slaughtered in the appropriate way for Muslim inmates who adhere to religious tradition, said David Singleton, executive director of the Ohio Justice and Policy Center, which brought the lawsuit on Awkal's behalf. He said the lawsuit will continue.

A judge has given lawyers and inmates for the state until next month to finish filing documents bolstering their arguments, ahead of an expected January trial. Muslim inmates sue over meals,

Awkal, 52, is scheduled to die in June for killing his estranged wife, Latife Awkal, and brother-in-law Mahmoud Abdul-Aziz in 1992, in a room in Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court.

Joining Awkal in the lawsuit is Cornelius Causey, 35, serving 15 years to life for murder and aggravated robbery convictions out of Hamilton County. muslim inmates sue meal preparation, Ohio jewish prisoners kosher meals,

Ohio argues that it provides both non-pork and vegetarian meals to Muslims and says the courts have sided with this practice. The state also says that providing halal meals could hurt Ohio financially, given the current budget situation.

"The complete restructuring of ODRC's food service administration and preparation, at a cost of millions to the State of Ohio during fiscal crisis, is at stake," Ryan Dolan, an assistant attorney general, argued in a court filing.

Ohio included in its response to the lawsuit a document from a Muslim who does regular spiritual counseling of Muslim inmates.

While Imam Sunni-Ali Islam said he thought it was problematic that Ohio provided kosher but not halal meals, he said he doesn't think it rises to the level of religious discrimination.

The state's prison guidelines for Jewish prisoners say, "The Department will accommodate kosher dietary restrictions to recognized Jewish inmates." Kosher guidelines also address proper ways to slaughter animals and prepare meat.

OCEAN RIDGE — The envelope mailed to the Ocean Ridge home of Vice President Joe Biden’s younger brother, which contained a suspicious white powder and caused a hazmat emergency Saturday, was apparently mailed from India.

Francis Biden, 57, said the package — a manila envelope — was retrieved from his roadside mailbox at about noon by his girlfriend, Mindy. It was addressed to him.

“She retrieved it, but I was the one who opened it,” Biden said. “It was mailed from India.”

Biden said the moment he opened it a white powder spilled from the envelope and onto his skin. He said he immediately called authorities, who evacuated neighbors from the immediate area and closed off the street for eight hours.

Biden and his girlfriend were taken to Bethesda Hospital. Mindy was released Saturday but Biden stayed overnight.

The New York City Fire Department finally has it's first openly trangendered firefighter. The woman in question, who now goes by the name Brooke, has for the most part found acceptance from her coworkers. The Department is not known for its diversity, but it probably helps that Brooke has deep roots with the FDNY:

Bravery must run in the family. As one firefighter said of Brooke, "It's a tremendously courageous decision. Hopefully everyone will be supportive." So far it seems like her coworkers are onboard, with the notable exception of a few idiots who insist on calling her "it." But as one long-time FDNY member put it, "Especially among those who know the [family], this won't amount to a hill of beans to them. There's a lot of respect for the family." Hopefully Brooke's willingness to be open about her transition will pave the way for other firefighters in the same situation. first transgender firefighter, lack of diversity fdny,

Hells Angels boss killed in shootout

Hells Angels boss killed in shootout
Hells Angels boss killed in shootout, The city canceled its part in an annual multi-city motorcycle festival on Saturday and neighboring Reno increased police patrol amid fears of retaliation over the shooting death of a prominent Hells Angels boss by a rival gang.
Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew, the 51-year-old head of the motorcycle gang's San Jose chapter, was killed late Friday in a shootout that sent hotel guests and gamblers diving under tables at John Ascuaga's Nugget hotel-casino, police said. Two California members of the Vagos Motorcycle Club also were wounded.

The gunfight apparently sparked a retaliatory drive-by shooting several hours after the casino gunfire, prompting Mayor Geno Martini to declare a formal state of emergency. A motorcyclist was injured after he was shot Saturday morning.

"We don't want to alarm our residents," he said. "The declaration merely provides some tools and tactics our city can and should use if it comes to that."

"We don't expect further violence, but we must be prepared," he added.

Martini said he also pulled the plug on the live entertainment and other festivities in Sparks related to Street Vibrations, an annual weekend-long event that has drawn tens of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts to the area for 18 years.

Festival organizers had said they expected up to 30,000 visitors to this year's event, which began Thursday and was to run through Sunday in Reno, Sparks and Virginia City.

The man who was shot in the stomach during the drive-by shooting had been riding a motorcycle down the street from the public square where the festival was anchored. He was not being identified for his protection, police said.

That man was in stable condition, as were the two wounded Vagos members — Leonard Ramirez, 45, who was shot in the abdomen, and Diego Garcia, 28, who was shot in the leg.

Deputy Police Chief Brian Allen said investigators could not independently link the casino to the attack on the cyclist, which was carried out by a gunman in a black sedan with tinted windows.

But Martini told the Reno Gazette-Journal that it "definitely" was a case of retaliation.

"After the retaliation, it's just too tense of a situation," he said. "It's hard to say what's going to happen. It's just not worth the chance."

Security also was heightened at the Reno hospital where the two Vagos members were being treated. All doors were locked there, except the emergency entrance.

Allen said there were no suspects in the killing of Pettigrew but that police arrested one Hells Angel member from California in connection with the shootings at the casino. Cesar Villagrana, 36, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a stolen firearm, Allen said. He said Villagrana was caught on videotape shooting into the crowd, but there was no evidence yet that he struck anyone.

Allen appealed for assistance from any witnesses who might have videotaped or photographed any portion of the incident.

Martini said he had been in contact with Gov. Brian Sandoval, who pledged support if the city needed more law enforcement resources.

Allen said law enforcement was monitoring traffic on I-80 and other main routes into Reno but had no indication any motorcycle clubs were attempting to marshal more forces in the area.

Reno police said they were increasing patrols but continuing the festival there, including downtown concerts on the main casino drag where the streets were closed to traffic. They also said they would request assistance from federal law enforcement if necessary.

Police said some hotel-casinos in Reno intended to staff their doors and allow entry only to registered guests Saturday night.

Witnesses to the casino shootout described chaos erupting after a group of Vagos club members was confronted by Hells Angels members at the Nugget. Daniel Sharp, of Stockton, Calif., told the Reno Gazette-Journal that within five minutes, shots rang out: "It was mayhem."

Joe Franco, of Reno, said he saw one Hells Angel member pull out a gun after he was knocked to the ground in a fistfight.

"He was down with the bloody nose, gets up and pulls out the gun, and that's the first shot" apparently at the man who punched him, Franco told the Gazette-Journal.

The casino was evacuated and put on lockdown around midnight. The Nugget said in a statement that the casino and all its restaurants had since reopened, but that in addition to its own "extensive security force," uniformed officers would patrol inside the casino for the rest of the weekend.

Authorities in Arizona arrested more than two dozen members of the two gangs in August 2010 after a shootout between them wounded five people but none seriously in the small community of Chino Valley, north of Prescott.
