Now, in yet another gift from the TV reincarnation gods, Netflix has started streaming every episode of “The Wonder Years.”Vulture reports — and Netflix clearly verifies — that all 115 episodes of the show that made us nostalgic for the 1960s, even if we were not alive during that decade, are now available via streaming. This is notable because: A) “The Wonder Years” has never been released on DVD; B) fans of “The Wonder Years” have been clamoring to watch it in an on-demand format for years; and C) we kind of missed Kirk McCray.

Because, let’s face it, even though we all enjoyed Becky Slater’s mean-girl antics, Delores’s gum-chewing idiosyncracies and that special way Wayne said the word “butthead,” many of us watched “The Wonder Years” knowing full well that the final, sappy five minutes would often turn us into blubbering fools because . . . sniff . . . just look at how much Kevin Arnold loves Winnie Cooper. I mean . . . sob . . . it’s just so . . . (embarrassingly loud bawling) sweet.

“Birthday Boy”
This Season Two episode — in which Paul (Josh Saviano) and Kevin (Fred Savage) get into a major fight when Paul plans his bar mitzvah on the same day as Kevin’s 13th birthday — is a classic “Wonder Years” weeper. If you can get through the Simon and Garfunkel montage without tearing up a little, it’s possible you have very dry tear ducts or no soul whatsoever. Another Season Three entry, this one focuses on the anxiety surrounding Kevin and Winnie’s first kiss, an event whose innocence seems all the more poignant in these tawdry, “Jersey Shore” times. Setting the moment to the obscure but lovely Elton John song “Friends” elevates it into “The Wonder Years” Tear-Jerker Hall of Fame.

“The House That Jack Built”
Call it the first David Schwimmer episode. Or call it the episode in which Jack Arnold fights with his daughter and highlights why generational differences are so painful. When Dan Lauria screams, “I haven’t changed,” it’s as if he’s speaking on behalf of the entire so-called Silent Generation. Loved Ones Ashes Ammunition, An Alabama company has come up with a way for avid hunters to go out with a bang when they die. The cremated ashes of loved ones can now be loaded into shotgun shells and rifle and pistol cartridges.Holy Smoke LLC, created by state conservation officers Thad Holmes and Clem Parnell, launched in July and recently shipped its first two orders, according to The Montgomery Advertiser.

“This isn’t a joke. It’s a job that we take very seriously,” Parnell told the paper. “This is a reverent business. We take the utmost care in what we do and show the greatest respect for the remains.”

One pound of ash can be loaded into 250 shotgun shells for $850. The company also does pistol and rifle rounds. The process takes about 48 hours after the company receives the ashes. Any remaining ashes are shipped back to the customer with the ammo.

“You can take your loved one on one last hunting trip or one last trip to the range,” Holmes said. “Some people have been concerned that a small amount of ash will remain in the animal that is shot with the ammunition. But it’s just carbon, and a small amount at that. You don’t have anything to worry about.”

The two men came up with the idea on a hunting trip several years ago when they were discussing how they would want to be buried.

“I would rest in peace knowing the last thing I did was to go screaming at that turkey at 900 feet per second,” Parnell said.

The transaction is expected to close on or around November 30, 2011. Muslim inmates sue over meals, A Muslim death row inmate says the Ohio prison system is denying him meals prepared according to Islamic law while at the same time providing kosher meals to Jewish prisoners, according to a federal lawsuit that alleges a civil rights violation.The state said Monday that it has already removed pork from its menus in response to the lawsuit brought by condemned inmate Abdul Awkal, who argues the prison system's failure to provide halal meals is a restraint on his religious freedoms.

Awkal, joined by a second inmate not on death row, says the vegetarian and non-pork options offered by the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction aren't good enough. The inmates say food must be prepared in specific fashion, such as ensuring that an animal is butchered by slitting its throat and draining its blood, to conform to Islamic beliefs.

"The issue of eating Halal meals is especially important to me because I face a death sentence," Awkal said in a filing in federal court earlier this year. "It is important to me that I follow the requirements of my faith as I approach death."

The state's recent decision to drop pork from all meals accommodates religious preferences without jeopardizing security, said Carlo LoParo, spokesman for the state corrections department. It "eliminates any doubt that Muslims or any inmate who has a specific prohibition against pork products receives pork inadvertently or otherwise," he said. "It's a concession that we can make that doesn't compromise other aspects of our operation," he said.

But Monday's announcement doesn't solve that meat isn't slaughtered in the appropriate way for Muslim inmates who adhere to religious tradition, said David Singleton, executive director of the Ohio Justice and Policy Center, which brought the lawsuit on Awkal's behalf. He said the lawsuit will continue.

Awkal, 52, is scheduled to die in June for killing his estranged wife, Latife Awkal, and brother-in-law Mahmoud Abdul-Aziz in 1992, in a room in Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court.

While Imam Sunni-Ali Islam said he thought it was problematic that Ohio provided kosher but not halal meals, he said he doesn't think it rises to the level of religious discrimination.

The state's prison guidelines for Jewish prisoners say, "The Department will accommodate kosher dietary restrictions to recognized Jewish inmates." Kosher guidelines also address proper ways to slaughter animals and prepare meat.
