Katy Perry and Lady Gaga: the music that was banned
Katy Perry and Lady Gaga: the music that was banned. China has deemed some of Katy Perry's and Lady Gaga's music 'too vulgar' resulting in many of their songs being banned in the country. Oops. While you're boogying away this weekend to the dance megamix of Judas in a packed nightclub, spare a thought for the Chinese - as of September 15, this and many other Lady Gaga songs will be banned in their country.
Thanks to a new 'black list' from China's Ministry of Culture, several of Lady Gaga's tunes will be banned for being 'too vulgar.' Her hits such as The Edge Of Glory and Hair may never see the light of day in China again.
While this is a huge shame, at least people in China can listen to someone else like Katy Perry instead right?
Well, a number of Katy Perry's tracks have also made China's infamous black list - including her recent hit Last Friday Night.
This isn't the first time that a musician's work has caused controversy though - from outrageous videos to risqué lyrics, the musicians in this gallery all know what it feels like to be banned.
